Geotechnological data report from U.S. show Arctic ice loss is slowing down

Reuters U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres on Tuesday issued an urgent call for an international conference on climate change to avert the worst impacts of rising temperatures in the Arctic, the most remote region of the world.

The report, released by the U.

Ns Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said the polar regions are seeing less and less snow and ice, while sea ice is retreating.

In addition, the Uppsala University in Sweden said Arctic sea ice was down about 20 percent from its peak in 2012, the first year the sea ice cover was recorded at its lowest level.
