A New Jersey man has been charged with the murder of his ex’s cat, according to authorities.
Police say that a man identified as James Thomas, of New York, is accused of murdering his girlfriend’s cat.
Thomas, who had custody of the cat, is charged with cruelty to animals.
He is being held on $10 million bail and is due in court for a preliminary hearing on June 12.
The cat, named Chitty Chitty, died from its injuries in January.
The New York Daily News reports that the cat’s owner has been given $2,500 in support from the New York Humane Society.
